ARTIST SPOTLIGHT | Cleo Sol Is Good For The Soul

There has been ongoing debate surrounding the authenticity of R&B music. Cleo Sol is a prime example that great reminiscent music still exists. The UK soul singer has been wooing the industry for over a decade. She released her 2020 debut album ‘A Rose in the Dark’, followed by her sophomore album ‘Mother’ in 2021.
She has now made a heavenly return with her third album, aptly titled 'Heaven,' and her fourth album titled “Gold”. Throughout both of her new albums, she weaves the life lessons she's acquired on her journey, set against frequent collaborator/ life partner Inflo's production.

HEAVEN:

“And you will find your power, little bird, wait And you will fly again, no fear / High like an airplane”, Cleo sings over a minimal drum beat and acoustic guitar. “Airplane” is a reminder that if you ever doubt yourself, you will prevail and ‘fly again’.
On “Go Baby”she delivers a powerful message about resilience and encouraging individuals to press on despite life’s challenges.

Cleo gets candid on the song “Desire” and delves into themes of love, longing and the anticipation of a shared future with someone who left a positive mark oh her live. “When it's you and I, there is no time. Together we vibrate high, all I want is to feel you deep inside”, she sings.
Cleo flexes her velvety vocals on “Reason”. She expresses the importance of leaning on her faith during difficult times.
What makes Cleo markedly standout from her peers is that she has the confidence to occasionally dissect subjects that others deviate from. She often explores themes of self-motivation, spirituality and discovering inner strength in challenging moments.
Listening to her music evokes that same sensation I felt listening to early Lauryn Hill and India.Arie. They all delivered lyrics that are honest and straight from the heart. With every release, whether it’s a solo project or collaborating with other artists, Cleo Sol never fails to impress. Her musical growth over the years has been a beautiful thing to see.
